1682, Edmund Halley uses N’s methods to determine the orbit of brilliant comet (now “Halley’s Comet”) of that year, and predict its return in 1758.
1686, July 5, Newton (43) completes writing Principia.
1687, N (44) sees Principia published by Astronomer Edmund Halley, who financed the publication.
1689, Jan 15, N (46) elected by Cambridge U senate to house of commons, to the so-called Convention Parliament.
